The 62-year-old Hollywood actor is among the most successful stars in the entertainment industry however his fame reciprocates his status. As per the reports by The Sun via Irish Examiner in 2011, George Clooney had demanded some outlandish requests while filming for Gravity and it was complied as well!

He was given a custom-made beach hut installed on the set so that he could chill out when he was taking a break from the shooting.

“Because he’s such a big star he can request pretty much whatever he wants and he usually gets it. Scene builders can build anything on a film set – and that goes for facilities for the actors too. It’s quite a sight.”

Not just that, his demands only expanded to some extent.

As ScotWorkUSA shared,

“Not sure how down-to-earth George Clooney’s demands were, but during the filming of the movie Gravity, he asked for a full garden, a basketball court, and a beach hut built right next to his trailer. I like the planet he lives on, and I hope to visit one day.”

Though his personal demands were even making his co-star, Sandra Bullock, and her then 16-month-old son Louis happy who were regular visitors of that place. However, he was not the first choice to play the role of Lieutenant Matt Kowalski in the film.

Robert Downey Jr. won hearts globally with his iconic portrayal of Tony Stark/Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. While he is no stranger to suits, his intolerance to tech-heavy conditions in the 2013 film became the reason for his departure.

In a 2015 appearance on The Howard Stern Show, he discussed his exit from the film by sharing,

“I went to do a test with a new sort of multi-spherical camera thing they were [using] for how they were going to do all the CGI. And I’m one of those guys who can be comfortably uncomfortable pretty easily, and maybe I was just on my cycle or something, but I went in the morning to do that, and we did it for about twenty minutes, and I said, ‘This is crazy. How much longer?’ And they said, ‘It’s like another two to four hours,’ and I said, ‘No, it isn’t!’ “

Given that he was annoyed with the heavy tech conditions, the film ended up getting closed with Clooney. Apparently, Downey Jr.’s sudden exit from the film would have given the reason for the team to do anything to keep Batman & Robin actor from leaving.

The film was a critical and commercially successful film grossing over $723 million worldwide against a production budget of around $100 million.

Gravity is available on HBO Max.
