After the sitcom ended in 2006, the cast of That ’70s Show went on to have long and successful careers. That ’70s Show follows the life of Eric Forman, a regular teen in Wisconsin in the 1970s, and the antics of growing up in that groovy decade. The series was unique because it combined the typical tropes of classic sitcoms with a modern twist, and cleverly paid homage to the time period that it was based in. As a result, That ’70s Show was nostalgic for those who remembered the ’70s, and for those who enjoyed the show as it was airing in the ’90s and early-’00s.
Like most sitcoms, That ’70s Show lived and died by its cast, and the stars of the show would all go on to have extremely successful careers in TV and movies. The show allowed the audience to grow up along with Eric and all of his friends, and the cast of That ’70s Show left the program as highly accomplished young actors with big futures. Many of the That ’70s Show cast returned in That ’90s Show, including Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Ashton Kutcher, and Mila Kunis, but their careers stretched far beyond the popular revival series.
Topher Grace (Eric Forman)
Heading up the cast of That ’70s Show, Grace plays Eric Forman, the youngest child of Red and Kitty whose basement is often the setting for his friends’ teenage antics. Grace departed That ’70s Show after the seventh season and immediately found blockbuster success as Eddie Brock in 2007’s Spider-Man 3. In 2014, Grace appeared as Getty in the award-winning film Interstellar, and he also played David Duke in 2018’s BlacKkKlansman. Finding success in TV once again, Grace landed the leading role of Tom Hayworth in the CBS sitcom Home Economics in 2021.
Mila Kunis (Jackie Burkhart)
Kunis plays Jackie Burkhart, the spoiled girlfriend of Michael Kelso who becomes a reluctant part of Eric’s friend group. Kunis’ career after That ’70s Show immediately took off in films like 2008’s Forgetting Sarah Marshall where she played Rachel, and she even pivoted her success into more action-oriented roles in films like 2010’s The Book of Eli and 2015’s Jupiter Ascending. However, it was Kunis’ turn as Lily in 2010’s The Black Swan that allowed her to show off her true range. Outside of starring roles in comedy films like Amy Mitchell in the Bad Moms franchise, Kunis continues to voice the role of Meg Griffin on Family Guy.
Ashton Kutcher (Michael Kelso)
Perhaps the biggest star of the That ’70s Show cast as it was airing, Kutcher plays Michael Kelso, Eric’s ditzy friend who bounced from girlfriend to girlfriend throughout the series. Kutcher had already proven himself to be a comedic movie star, and he continued that trend with roles in films like 2010’s Killers where he played Spencer. Kutcher joined the cast of the long-running sitcom Two and a Half Men in 2011, and was the star of the series until it ended in 2015. Kutcher also starred as Colt in all four seasons of the Netflix series The Ranch where he reunited with his That ’70s Show co-star Danny Masterson.
Laura Prepon (Donna Pinciotti)
Prepon joined the cast of That ’70s Show as Donna Pinciotti, Eric’s best friend and eventual girlfriend who lives next door to the Formans. Besides a few one-off appearances on TV shows like Medium and How I Met Your Mother, Prepon’s post-That ’70s Show career really took off when she landed the starring role as Alex Vause in Netflix’s Orange is the New Black in 2013. Prepon also had a memorable turn as Laura in the 2016 thriller The Girl on the Train.
Wilmer Valderrama (Fez)
Played by Wilmer Valderrama, Fez is a foreign exchange student who attends Eric’s high school, and eventually joins the friend group and learns about American culture through them. Except for his memorable role as Dell Gordo in 2011’s Larry Crowne, Valderrama found most of his post-That ’70s Show success in other TV shows. Valderrama lent his voice to the title character in the children’s program Handy Mandy, but it was his long-running role as Nick Torres on NCIS that allowed Valderrama to flourish. Valderrama also played the role of Agustín Madrigal in the cast of Encanto in 2021.
Danny Masterson (Hyde)
Masterson appears in the cast of That ’70s Show as Hyde, Eric’s rebellious friend who is taken in by the Formans after he is abandoned by his parents. After appearing in 200 episodes of That ’70s Show, Masterson’s career cooled off somewhat, though he did appear in 2008’s Yes Man as Rooney. Masterson starred as Milo Foster in all three seasons of the sitcom Men at Work, and he reunited with Kutcher when he played Jameson on The Ranch. In 2017, there was a series of sexual assault allegations against Masterson, resulting in a trial, and the actor has not worked since he was charged.
Debra Jo Rupp (Kitty Forman)
Veteran actor Debra Jo Rupp appears in That ’70s Show as Kitty Forman, Eric’s mother whose usually chipper demeanor is constantly tested by her grumpy husband and rebellious children. Already an accomplished TV performer by the time she arrived on That ’70s Show, Rupp continued that trend with appearances on shows like This Is Us and Elementary. In 2017, Rupp joined Kutcher and Masterson when she played Janice on The Ranch, and she joined the MCU when she played Sharon Davis/Mrs. Hart on the mind-bending WandaVision series in 2021.
Kurtwood Smith (Red Forman)
Eric’s curmudgeonly father whose strict rule the teens often defy, Red Forman is remembered as the scariest sitcom dad, and he’s played by Kurtwood Smith. Known mostly for his voice-over work after leaving That ’70s Show, Smith has lent his vocal talents to DC animated films like Green Lantern: First Flight and series like Beware the Batman. Outside of several appearances on Regular Show, Smith also appeared alongside his fellow That ’70s Show cast members when he played Sam Peterson on The Ranch. In 2022, Kurtwood Smith appeared as Dr. Wanless in Firestarter and as David Boies in the miniseries The Dropout.
Don Stark (Bob Pinciotti)
Played by Don Stark, Bob Pinciotti is Donna’s dad and neighbor to Red and Kitty whose desire to stay hip often leads to embarrassing consequences. After leaving the cast of That ’70s Show, Stark continued to act mainly in TV with one-off roles on shows like The Mentalist, Castle, and The Good Wife before he landed the major role of Sol in the 2016 film Café Society. In 2018, Stark appeared in the Best Picture Oscar winner Green Book as Jules Podell.
Josh Meyers (Randy Pearson)
Brought into the cast of That ’70s Show as a replacement for Eric and Kelso after their season 7 departure, Josh Meyers plays Randy Pearson, a fellow employee at the record store with Hyde who becomes part of the friend group in season 8. Unlike the rest of the cast, That ’70s Show wasn’t a star-making role for Meyers, and he found greater success in movies like 2009’s Brüno when he played Kookus. In 2022, Meyers appeared in an episode of the Quantum Leap revival as Percival Gray, and he also played various characters in two episodes of the 2023 series History of the World: Part II.
