Karthik Subbaraj Is On Cloud Nine After Hollywood Icon Clint Eastwood Promises To Watch Jigarthanda Double X

He took to Twitter to write, “Wow! Feeling So Surreal! The Legend Clint Eastwood is AWARE of Jigarthanda Double X and gonna watch it soon (?) This film is my heartfelt dedication to Clint Eastwood on behalf of Millions of his Fans in India… Can’t wait to hear what he thinks of the film once he does… Thanks a lot @Vijay70269050 and all Jigarthanda XX fans on Twitter who reached out to the man himself and making this happen… Feeling Blessed.”

This happened after a fan had tweeted to the Hollywood icon requesting him to watch the movie. “Dear @RealTheClint We are Indians We made a Tamil movie called Jigarthanda Double X. It’s available on Netflix. We have given u a great tribute in the whole movie. We made some animated scenes like you in your young age. Please watch it once u get some time.”

What happened next is something that no one expected.

The actor-filmmaker’s team responded to the tweet saying, “Hi. Clint is aware of this Movie and he states he will get to it upon Completion of his New Film. Juror 2. Thank You.”

The film, for the unversed, pays tribute to Rajinikanth and Satyajit Ray apart from Clint.

Starring SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence, Jigarthanda Double X had released in theatres on November 10.

Karthik Subbaraj earlier said that it’s a homage to Western films and Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood. “When we made the first promo for the first Jigarthanda, it featured a poster of Clint Eastwood. In the new film, the script lends itself very close to the Western tropes, and I have tried to explore it to the maximum,” he was quoted as saying by The Hindu.

SJ Suryah who played the role of Ray Dasan in the film also thanked Clint Eastwood for the acknowledgement. He wrote, “Thanks a lot sir. We are very happy that this movie reached you. My self and @offl_Lawrence we are die-hard fans of you sir & our director @karthiksubbaraj sir is maddest die-hard fan of you sir.”

Raghava Lawrence also reacted to the post. “Thanks a lot sir we are very happy that this movie reached you my self and @iam_SJSuryah, we are die-hard fan of you sir & our director @karthiksubbaraj sir is maddest die hard fan of U sir @RealTheClint,” he wrote.

Starring Raghava Lawrence, SJ Suryah, Nimisha Sajayan and written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Jigarthanda DoubleX is being hailed as the spiritual successor to the 2014 film. The movie is set to be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Set in 1975 Tamil Nadu, the story of the film revolves around a gangster Pandiyan who wants to become the first dark skinned actor. On his journey to make a film that has him as the lead actor in a Clint Eastwood-type movie, his rivals begin to hunt him down.
