Only Fools and Horses fans in mad panic when they see Rodney Trotter legend Nicholas Lyndhurst’s name trending on Twitter

Fans feared the worst when they saw he was trending but it was actually for a very positive reason

Only Fools and Horses fans were sent into a mad panic when they saw Nicholas Lyndhurst’s name trending on Twitter. Fans of the legendary sitcom saw the Rodney Trotter actor’s name was trending on Saturday morning (January 14) and immediately worried that it might have been because he had passed away.

One fan tweeted: “My heart almost went when I saw Nicholas Lyndhurst trending. He’s NOT DEAD.” Another added: “I did exactly the same! What a relief!”

Fortunately, the real reason that he was trending on the social media site was much more positive. Nicholas has been cast in a key role in the Frasier sequel series, according to reports.

The Only Fools and Horses star will reportedly play a new character from Frasier’s past. According to Variety his character is Alan Cornwall, described as “Frasier’s old college buddy turned university professor.”

It adds that he is “British, boozy, and larger than life, Alan has an intellect on par with Frasier’s—if only he ever felt like using it. Alan’s mischievous streak might be just what Frasier could use to shake up his routine, while Frasier’s thoughtful guidance might help Alan find some of the direction he’s been missing in his own life.”

Frasier originally aired from 1993 to 2004. The reboot was first announced in 2021.

If the reports are confirmed Nicholas will become the second actor to be confirmed in the reboot, after Kelsey Grammer confirmed that she would be returning to work on the show.
