The Alma Tavern buys Only Fools and Horses Trotter van

A CITY pub has splashed out to buy a replica of the Only Fools and Horses van.

The Alma Tavern on Droitwich Road decided to buy the Trotters van from a Delboy magician who travels around dressing up as the character while doing magic acts.

The vehicle cost £10,000 and is parked in the pub’s car park in Droitwich Road.

Will Bradley, the manager, said the vehicle is drivable and was a lot cheaper than replicas which are being sold online for nearly £40,000.

“I am a fan of comedy shows on BBC, from Only Fools and Horses down to Porridge,” Mr Bradley said.

“My parents loved it, so when they were doing the re-runs, we would watch the episodes.

“During Covid, though we were doing deliveries, we were still quite quiet so would watch the iconic clips from the show, so when we came across the van for sale, I decided to set up a full Only Fools and Horses experience.”

To mark the new purchase, the pub will be running an Only Fools and Horses quiz night, where Delboy and Rodney will be there for pictures.

The quiz night will be on September 17 and will have two sittings which are at 2pm and 5pm.

Mr Bradley also hopes to one day use the vehicle for weddings and different events around the city.

“It will be part of The Alma Tavern and events we host going forward.

“It may stay here, or we may put it somewhere else.”

Since the Trotter van appeared in the car park yesterday morning, customers have been snapping up pictures with it.

Mr Bradley added: “The response has been really positive with people wondering how long it will be there, but because it has been so well received, it might now be there for longer.”

The Alma Tavern is owned by happy-go-lucky ex-policeman Jon Dean, 51, and hospitality expert Will Bradley, 38, and over the years, they are proud of the community they have built.

This year Worcester News readers had named the waterhole as one of their hidden gem pubs.
