After waiting to see what happened to Del Boy Trotter after becoming a millionaire in the Time On Our Hands episode, the sitcom made a comeback five years later in 2001 for a Christmas special.

The episode, If They Could See Us Now, opens with the Trotters leading a very lavish lifestyle just like Del Boy always wanted so what could have possibly gone wrong! In a devastating twist of events, and after years of struggling to become wealthy, Del Boy and Rodney lose all of their cash.

The demise of their wealth was due to a very bad investment after the Central American stock market crashes, leaving the Peckham family with nothing, whilst on an expensive holiday!

After a court hearing the former wheeler-dealers were made bankrupt, and also had a rather large tax bill to contend with.

However, Del shows determination to keep their heads above water and he relaunches Trotters Independent Traders with Rodney in charge.

He also made a huge blunder after appearing on the fictional TV game show Goldrush, hosted by a famous face, and Uncle Albert passes away – pass the tissues!
