Smith & Wesson Announces M&P 10 Volunteer X Rifles

Smith & Wesson has expanded their lineup of M&P 10 rifles with the new Volunteer X series. These new models add upgrades to the base M&P 10 Sport model. They pair a 16″ barrel with an overall weight of under nine pounds.

The Volunteer X retains the ambidextrous bolt release from the other M&P 10 models. The safety is also ambidextrous. Two caliber options are available – 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 Winchester. Both still feed from standard SR-25 pattern magazines. The list price for both calibers is $1749.

A long list of upgraded parts set the Volunteer X apart from the base Sport model. The furniture is upgraded, with a handguard from BCM and a pistol grip and stock from B5 Systems. Iron sights from the Williams Gun Sight Company are included, as is a muzzle brake from PWS. A flat-face trigger is standard along with a Radian Raptor-LT charging handle. As with all S&W firearms, Volunteer X is backed by the company’s Lifetime Service Policy.
