Hidden away in Mossberg’s SHOT booth was a few new shotguns: Mossberg 590S models with the Optic Ready capability, as well as new M-LOK forends. Able to mount a low-profile optic, and cycling everything from mini shells to 3″, the new 590S Optic-Ready models are available with 18″ and 20″ barrels, both retailing at $704 MSRP.

[SHOT 2023] Mossberg Adds Optic Ready Models to the 590S line
Per Mossberg:
NORTH HAVEN, CT – The flexibility of the 590S Series of 12-gauge shotguns has been enhanced with the addition of two optic-ready versions. Available with 20-inch and 18.5-inch barrel lengths, these pump-actions are capable of cycling 1.75, 2.75 and 3-inch shotshells interchangeably without the use of an adaptor; and now, you can directly mount a low-profile, micro-dot sight to the receiver.
Mossberg 590 tactical shotguns feature non-binding twin action bars; positive steel-to-steel lock-up and anti-jam elevator; dual extractors; drilled and tapped receivers; ambidextrous top-mounted safety; and convenient clean- out magazine tube with cap for ease of maintenance. Standard features of the optic-ready 590S series include black synthetic stock and forend; cylinder bore barrel (AccuChokeTM-compatible barrel on the 20-inch version); matte blue metal finish; sling swivel studs; and logo-engraved receiver.
Key design elements of the 590S platform include a redesigned elevator and bolt slide combined with the addition of an energy-absorbing bumper. This patent-pending design allows the user to load their choice of shotshell length (1.75, 2.75 and 3-inch) and shotshell type in any combination. And use of shorter shell lengths will also increase the overall capacity of the 590S.
590S Optic-Ready Pump-Action Shotguns (51604/51605) – Available with choice of 18.5-inch cylinder bore barrel, featuring a front bead sight and corncob forend or a 20-inch version with AccuChoke-compatible barrel (Cylinder choke tube included), front bead sight, and versatile M-LOK® compatible forend. Both models feature receiver cuts to accept the direct mounting of micro-dot sights (Shield RMSc footprint) and a cover plate is included for use when a sight is not mounted. MSRP: $704
