Having worked in many big projects including his recurrent role as Nick Fury in the MCU films, he is quite a demanding personality. He was also a part of Kong: Skull Island, but he was not the first choice. He directly addressed his role and shared why he gave that film a chance.

The 74-year-old actor, Samuel L. Jackson played the role of Preston Packard who leads the film, Kong: Skull Island alongside Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson. Belonging to the famous King Kong franchise, the film was definitely a great project.

However, given the fact that the former has been a leading brand in the industry, his significance was also a crucial point but what might surprise one is the fact that he was not the first choice to play Packard’s role in the film.

He shared in AOL’s BUILD Series,

“When they said ‘King Kong, we want you’, I was like ‘Awesome!’ Then I found out that I was the second choice and I still didn’t care. I’ll do it anyway.”

He continued to share why the first actor who was chosen before him left the role.

“They had an Academy Award winner at first and he didn’t want to be home away from home, away from his kids that long because we were gone forever in Hawaii, Australia, and Vietnam.”

However, his case was different as he shared that his family was not bothered by his absence which is why he accepted the role.

Not many can get as successful as the MonsterVerse which cemented the gigantic monsters’ era that won the hearts of cinema. But the 2017 film was an immensely successful film that captivated fans’ attention with its original plot, iconic action sequences, and a star-studded cast among several others.

While Peter Jackson’s King Kong was unable to delve more into the characters’ stories, this film filled the gap and explored enough depth to make fans love the characters. The film was an incredible project that gained massive success by grossing $566 million worldwide and became the highest-grossing installment in the MonsterVerse to date.
