Sir David Jason discovers he has daughter, 52, and grandson, 10, star had never met

Sir David Jason has discovered he has a 52-year-old daughter - as well as a 10-year-old grandson - that he had no idea about.

Only Fools and Horses star Sir David Jason, 83, was stunned to find he is a father to 52-year-old Abi and grandfather to her 10-year-old boy Charlie. The Del Boy actor was over the moon to hear the news and has since welcomed the pair into his family.

The overjoyed star and his wife Lady Gill White, 62, are parents to a daughter Sophie, 22, but now it seems their family has just grown a bit bigger.

It appears Sir David is now making up for all the time he missed out on with Abi, who was born in 1970 following his brief relationship with her mother, actress Jennifer Hill.

He told the Mirror: “To say it was a surprise to find out I had a daughter from years ago is an understatement.

“However, on settling with the news, I am delighted that I am now able to get to know Abi and so we meet up when we can.

“My wife, Gill, and daughter, Sophie, have been very supportive and -understanding and have embraced Abi and welcomed her and her young son into her now wider family.”

It was also revealed that Abi began to think the star could be her real father after realising she had the same shaped nose as the TV icon.

“We hope we are all allowed the privacy to continue our new relationship and get to know each other more and more,” Sir David added.

The publication also learned from Abi’s friends that the Brighton-born woman had developed a stronger sense of identity following the revelation about her father.

Sir David was 30 years old when he began his relationship with Abi’s mother Jennifer.

The pair starred in Dylan Thomas’s Under Milk Wood together at London’s May Fair theatre, before the actor went on to appear in its film adaptation.

Abi was subsequently born in October that year and, while she has even crossed paths with the icon, never realised she could be his relation.

Thankfully, the whole family appears to be thrilled with the unexpected turn of events, with Sir David getting to be a grandfather and finally reuniting with his long-lost child.
