20 Photos That Make Us Miss Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe is one of the most iconic stars of all time. She was an actress, model, and singer, with a popular career during the 1950s and 1960s. Known as a blonde bombshell, she had roles in films such as Monkey Business, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Some Like It Hot. She had relationships with men such as Joe DiMaggio, Frank Sinatra, and Arthur Miller.

Unfortunately, she passed away when she was just 36 years old, but her legacy lives on, all these years later. Her work is still enjoyed. Her fashion is still copied. Her face is seen on billboards, in art, and on clothing items. And her story is still told…

Whether Marilyn Monroe was acting on a set, out on the town with a handsome fella or just doing normal, everyday things (like fixing her makeup, reading a book, or riding a bike), she was doing it with such class and such style. There has never been anyone like her, and there never will be anyone like her. In short, we miss this star, so take a walk down memory lane…let’s all enjoy these 20 amazing and adorable photos of her, from back in the day.

Marrying Arthur Miller

After Monroe and Joe DiMaggio divorced, she began a serious relationship with Arthur Miller, a playwright known for works such as Dеаtһ of a Salesman and The Crucible. These two got married in 1956, as seen here, but they were divorced by 1961. Just look how cute they are!

Hanging Out At Home

Since Monroe is such a huge star, it is almost hard to imagine her doing average things. But, she was only human, as seen in this image of her hanging out and listening to music. She looks a little bit better than we do in our PJs with our playlists.

At The Beach

The beach can make for the perfect backdrop in photos, with the sun, surf and sand. That being said, it makes sense that this blonde bombshell took her fair share of pics in this setting. The umbrella, the swimsuit, the curls blowing in the breeze, the smile…it is all perfection.

Enjoying Room Service

This is a very well-known image of Marilyn Monroe, and it shows her without makeup. She is not all glammed out or dolled up, as she usually is. Instead, she’s enjoying some room service. We don’t care what she was eating or drinking when this photo was snapped. We are just glad such a candid shot exists.

With A Doggie

Add a furry friend to any photograph and it instantly gets a million times better! This cute celeb was a shining star on her own, but at this moment, with this dog, she was even better. In fact, this is almost too much adorableness in one pic, to be honest.

Touching Up Makeup

From magazine covers and films to red carpets and dates, Marilyn Monroe had many public appearances and outings. Therefore, like most women would for such occasions, she put on beauty products, styled her hair and got dressed up in some amazing ensembles. Seeing her touch up her makeup, though, is too cool, considering how iconic she is.

In ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’

In 1953, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes came out, and this musical comedy starred Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe; Monroe portrayed a character named Lorelei Lee. In a very notable pink gown, she sang Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend. Imagine being around to see all of this in person…amazing.

Accepting An Award

Obviously, this celeb won several awards over the years, including a BAFTA for The Seven Year Itch in 1956, a Golden Globe for Bus Stop in 1956, and a Golden Globe for Some Like It Hot in 1960.

With Joe DiMaggio

Monroe started a relationship with Joe DiMaggio in 1952. He was a baseball legend who had played for the New York Yankees. These two were then married from 1954 to 1955.

10 Putting In Her Handprints

When it comes to showbiz, the best of the best get to put their hands in cement and make a permanent mark in front of the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre (now known as TCL Chinese Theatre). Of course, Marilyn Monroe got to do just that, as seen in this image which shows her with her co-star, Jane Russell.

11 Singing Happy Birthday

Another notable moment from her past was when she sang Happy Birthday, Mr. President to John F. Kennedy. This celebration took place at Madison Square Garden, and it involved this blonde bombshell wearing a skintight dress that matched her skin tone.

12 LOL’ing

Just look at this face…the hair, the mole, the makeup…she is a true legend, she always has been, and she always will be. We miss her! While we do not like that she is not around today, we do enjoy getting to look back on all of these memories.

13 In A Parade

This particular photograph shows Marilyn Monroe riding in a parade. As expected, she is wearing some stylish ensemble that made her look even more glamorous, and as expected, a crowd gathered around her (made up mostly of men).

Imagine just being in her presence, or in the same room as her… Wow

14 On A Bike Ride

As mentioned, this star was a normal human being who did normal human being things, like go on bike rides. It really is sort of tough to imagine her doing something so simple and average, but this pic is proof (though she does look more stylish than we do on our rides).

15 Working At A Factory

Before Marilyn Monroe became, well, the Marilyn Monroe, she worked in a factory. These photos of that time in her life were taken at Radioplane Company, a munitions factory, during Worւԁ Wаr II. And just look at that brown hair…

Clearly, she looks good in anything and in any way!

16 With Marlon Brando

Monroe also dated Marlon Brando, a very well-known actor. Some of his most popular roles were in works such as A Streetcar Named Desire, One-Eyed Jacks, Apocalypse Now and, of course, The Godfather. What a good-looking couple, right?

17 Reading A Book

Another everyday thing that Monroe did was read, and this image shows her doing that, with all her class, and sass, and style, and cuteness. Have we mentioned that we truly miss this icon? She was like no other, and we are glad her legend is living on and on…

18 Working Out

Surely, many people have seen these pics that show Monroe working out, which is too amazing. She was considered a plus-size star back in the day, but now, her curves are something people work to get. Guess we should just lift a bar up over our heads like this!

19 In ‘The Prince & The Showgirl’

Another one of this star’s films was The Prince and the Showgirl from 1957. It was a rom-com that starred Marilyn Monroe and Laurence Olivier, and he directed it. He produced it, as well. Furthermore, My Week with Marilyn, a movie from 2011, focused on Monroe’s life while making this flick.

20. In That Famous White Dress

Last but not least, while thinking about how much we miss this celebrity, let’s take a moment to talk about this dress…the dress! One of the most popular photos ever taken shows Marilyn Monroe in a white dress, which is blowing upward because she’s standing over an air vent. Many have tried to replicate it, but no one could do it like her.
