Only Fools and Horses

Only Fools and Horses’ Damien Trotter appeared in EastEnders as an adult

Remember Del Boy’s son in Only Fools and Horses? Well the troublesome lad, who got right under his uncle Rodney’s skin, also caused bother in another hit BBC show.

Ben Smith played Damien Trotter, the son of Del and Raquel, in the iconic sitcom. Rodders believed that the character was actually the Antichrist, not least because he shared a name with the child from The Omen.

After appearing in Only Fools, the actor went on to feature in Skins, Holby City, Hustle, Goodnight Mister Tom and Second Sight, as well as Sherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregulars, and an episode of Doctor Who.

And he also showed up in Albert Square in 2008, playing Tegs Teague.

The character caused all manner of bother in four episodes of the soap, as the head of a gang called “the E20”, who nicked stuff from the market and hassled Dot.

He stabbed Jay Brown before getting arrested.

The actor went on to appear in Teachers, The Bill, Help! I’m a Teenage Outlaw, and Misfits, as well as Accused, Scott & Bailey, The Honourable Woman and Common.

Smith was also in Channel 4 police comedy-drama No Offence, and in 2019 he played the role of Robbie Lennox in Resistance.

Last month, beloved British comedy Only Fools and Horses celebrated over forty years on the small screen. Sir David Jason recently joined the Graham Norton Show with Waitrose to talk about his new book and playing the iconic Del Boy. He told Graham: “The show has become more and more powerful in people’s memories. It’s still on, it’s still being repeated. But the rest of my career, where, for example, I’ve won a BAFTA for Best Actor of whatever, nobody ever remembers. Nobody ever mentions it.”

He continued: “And so, yes, Del Boy is a bit of a cross that you have to bear. The British public just won’t let go!” Del Boy is a bit of a cross that you have to bear. The British public just won’t let go!”
