Laura Prepon Was ‘Donna-Like’ From The Moment She Walked In The Audition Room

The first episode of That ’70s Show premiered in late-August of 1998. It instantly became something special, given how different the show was, and that included the cast as well.

What made things that much more special, was the fact that most weren’t established at the point – heck, Topher Grace, the lead in the series was spotted at a play and had no prior acting experience.

As for Laura Prepon, she was quite “green” as well at the time, though she recalls nailing her audition.

Looking back at her tryout for the show, Prepon claims the end of her audition really ensured she was going to get the role of Donna on the series.

“One of the things that’s really funny is later after I got on the show, I had said to our creators, Bonnie and Terri Turner, ‘What was the thing that made you know that I was Donna?'” she recalls.

“They said, ‘First of all, when you came in, you just were Donna. You were Donna Pinciotti; you were perfect for her.’ And at the end of the audition, I looked at them and I said, ‘We good?’ And I put my hands on the table and I pushed off like a total tomboy. It was just how I got up from my table. They said that sealed the deal.”

The series thrived for eight seasons and 200 episodes, however, shooting the finale was not easy on the cast, especially for Laura Prepon…

The same held true years prior in 2006 for Laura Prepon during the That ’70s Show finale. According to IMDb, delays took place during the last episode due to how emotional the actress got, realizing the series was coming to an end.

“The filming of the final episode, “That ’70s Finale”, was frequently delayed because Laura Prepon (Donna) couldn’t stop crying. She had become extremely emotional as the realization that she would no longer be filming the show with the cast and crew she had started to consider as family, hit her really hard,” IMDb states in their Trivia section.
