Only Fools and Horses

The Only Fools and Horses star who was in The Bill, EastEnders and Casualty

Would you have noticed this familiar face

Any Only Fools and Horses fanatic will be able to spot a cast member a mile off.

And they’ve had more than enough time to familiarise themselves with who is on screen. After all, the Peckham-set show ran from the 1980s through to the final specials in 2003.

Like most other British sitcoms, the cast have also featured in other legendary TV shows.

But one face stands out from the rest, as they’ve landed themselves roles in The Bill, EastEnders, and Casualty.

Gerry Cowper, 62, appeared in two Only Fools episodes: “Tea for Three” and “The Frog’s Legacy” as road sweeper Trigger’s niece, Lisa.

But she’s had quite the career away from the sitcom.

Gerry Cowper played Joe Swash's mum in EastEnders

In 2002 she traded south of the Thames for East London, where she took on the role of troubled Rosie Miller in EastEnders.

Rosie’s mum took her own life when she was young, leaving her with her brother, Clint, and other siblings.

She was married to Mike Swann, and they had two children, Mickey (played by Joe Swash) and Dawn.

But sadly, while the couple were very young, Mike left Rosie and wasn’t seen for many years.

Ms Cowper also made numerous appearances over the years in The Bill, where she was playing Brenda Knight in “Blue for a boy.”

And if you think that’s not enough, she’s also been in Casualty, so I think it’s safe to say Gerry Cowper’s ‘completed BBC One’.

She played Eileen Prince, back in the 2002 episode “Feuds and Fury”.

But is it any surprise that Gerry’s been in so many shows? After all, she comes from a thespian family.

Her younger sister, Nicola Cowper, has also featured in Casualty, Holby City, and The Bill.

Surprisingly, the two sisters have a slightly peculiar relationship outside of acting.

Nicola was in a long-term relationship with a notorious armed robber, who was sentenced to 15-years back in 1988 for a bank heist, and Gerry fell in love and married his accomplice.

Gerry also had a twin sister, Jackie Cowper – who was an actress – but she sadly died.
