CrossBreed Rogue Concealed-Carry Holster: First Look

We test the new everyday-carry Crossbreed Rogue holster with the Springfield Armory Hellcat.

CrossBreed started in 2005 and quickly gained a reputation for making comfortable, effective holsters. CrossBreed is a staple with law enforcement and civilians alike for its inside-the-waistband (IWB) and outside-the-waistband (OWB) offerings. They’re most popular for the IWB holsters like the SuperTuck, Reckoning, Xecutive and Hybrid series holsters. Not one to sit on their laurels, Crossbreed has recently introduced the all-new Rogue System holsters.

The first thing one will notice about the Rogue is that it’s an all-Kydex holster, a stark contrast to the usual leather/Kydex hybrid designs CrossBreed is usually known for. It’s optimized for appendix carry, but it is suitable for strong-side carry, too. There are two parts to the Rogue system. First is a standalone Rogue holster, or there is an optional holster/mag combo.

Technically, there is some leather. It’s used to join the mag holster to the main body, and it has the added advantage of flexing around the contour of the body. This is better than a hinge design, too, as it has greater flexibility for comfort.

Adjustability is the name of the game with the Rogue. There are numerous clip options for different heights, locations and carry styles. The holster has an adjustable cant for optimal draw angle, and the retention is adjustable for any preferred draw.

Concealability

Any good IWB holster needs to be concealable and have minimal print when carrying. The included concealment claw on the holster pushes the holster against the body and also works to keep the holster in place during draws. We tested this using a Springfield Armory Hellcat RDP, and it was one of the quickest draws on target we’ve seen. Even with tighter clothing, there is only a small footprint across several different users, and everyone could draw on target quickly.

CrossBreed has always done a great job listening to their customers, and the Rogue holster system represents years of effort and design. It’s available for several different firearms including Glock, SIG Sauer, Smith & Wesson and various 1911 designs. With the concealed-carry numbers growing every day, take a look to see if the Rogue Holster System by CrossBreed is right for you.
