Only Fools and Horses fan Ricky Hatton has been forced to stop driving his “deathtrap” Del Boy van.

The former boxing champ, 44, loved dressing up as Del in a sheepskin coat and flat cap and driving one of the genuine canary Reliant Regal Supervans. But The Hitman revealed the three-wheeler is now an “ornament” on his lawn. He said: “It’s a bit of a deathtrap. I just have it in the garden, and people have a little chuckle when they see it.”

He said takeaway drivers still love seeing it at his Manchester mansion and ask for pictures. Ricky, an avid collector of showbiz and sports memorabilia, splashed out nearly £4,000 for a van when he was 25. It came complete with Trotters Indepen-dent Trading insignia – and rust.

Ricky said at the time: “I asked a fellow selling this kind of stuff to let me know when any of the eight three-wheelers they used come up for sale. They delivered it to me, and the night before I was so excited I couldn’t sleep.”

There’s no doubt Derek Trotter would love to have sampled some of Hatton’s life too, especially his trips to Las Vegas for big boxing nights. The Hitman relived his fights in Sin City in an interview with the Daily Star in August.
