Only Fools and Horses

The Only Fools and Horses star you probably forgot was in the show who has a very famous brother

He was only in one episode so you might not instantly remember him

Throughout the histories of some of our best-loved shows there are actors we completely forgot popped up in them, and that includes classics like Only Fools and Horses.

One such actor had a 30-year career across film and TV, and he has a brother even more famous than he is.

Appearing in just one episode of Only Fools on Christmas Day 1992, Robert Glenister played the role of Myles, an old evening class friend of Rodney’s who had become a millionaire after succeeding in business.

Seemingly a bit like Del-Boy, Myles was presented as a character who liked to take a gamble, live life on the edge and was maybe even a bit dodgy too.

He made his millions with a chain of organic food stores and happened to bump into Rodney and Del Boy one day.

In the episode “Mother Nature’s Son” Del Boy then sets up a con on Myles, creating a fake “Peckham spring” on Grandad’s old allotment to sell bottled water from, whilst really filling the bottles from his tap.

Myles, seemingly quite gullible, falls for the trick and sells the water in his shops.

It’s a classic episode and in Robert Glenister features an actor who went on to star in BBC1 series Hustle and Spooks.

He’s also appeared as a mob boss in Ben Affleck crime drama Live By Night.

Robert, now aged 61, has an even more recognisable younger brother, Philip, 58.

Philip Glenister starred as DCI Gene Hunt in the iconic Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes alongside John Simm and Keeley Hawes respectively.

He played Gene Hunt, a no-nonsense traditional detective reliant on his gut instinct to solve cases, leading to clashes with Simm’s DI Tyler who does things more by the book.
