Robin Williams

Robin Williams’ Net Worth Won’t Be Increasing Following His Death

There was also a lengthy battle surrounding his assets.

He was an absolute joy to watch on the big screen, however, behind the scenes, things weren’t as smooth. As she revealed with Telegraph, Robin’s former makeup artist made the claim that he had lots of struggles and demons behind the scenes – an ongoing issue in the world of Hollywood both then and now;

“He was sobbing in my arms at the end of every day. It was horrible. Horrible,” Cheri Minns, a member of the film’s makeup team, told Itzkoff. “I said to his people, ‘I’m a makeup artist. I don’t have the capacity to deal with what’s happening to him. He just cried and said, ‘I can’t, Cheri. I don’t know how anymore. I don’t know how to be funny.”

Robin Williams took his own life in the summer of 2014, it was a tragedy that really hit those he touched around the world. Some still haven’t gotten over the tragedy, with so many questions relating to his passing.

Not only did mental health come into play, but there was also a lengthy battle surrounding his assets. Prior to his passing, Williams made sure that his image would not be exploited once he was gone – which also means that net worth won’t be carrying over. We’ll examine other factors pertaining to his net worth.

His Net Worth Fell Prior To His Passing

Prior to his passing, it is said that Robin Williams had a net worth ranging between $50 and $100 million. Most of those funds came off the success of his more popular films – however, he would also lose a huge chunk of cash along the way thanks to a few separations.

It is believed according to Tuko, that Williams spent over $20 million on his multiple divorce settlements alone – not to mention his other troublesome situations, like being sued for over $6 million by a female that made the claim Williams contracted her with a mouth virus.

The situation would only worsen once he passed away, as other problems began to emerge, such as issues with his real estate. Above all else, Williams would also put sanctions in place, honoring his privacy. Meaning, we won’t see the beloved comedian replicated on a special show or series.

He Didn’t Want His Image Exploited Following His Passing

According to Forbes, entertainers can make up to $500,000 for the use of their photo in an advertisement, some like James Dean had made in the millions. As for Williams, he decided on a different path, blocking this from taking place. Mark Roesler the CEO with CMG Worldwide elaborated on the reason with Forbes;

“It could be he did not want to see his image overly exploited after his death,” said Mark Roesler, chairman and CEO at CMG Worldwide, a licensing house for personalities. “That’s a personal decision celebrities make.”

It seems as though privacy was his main concern, more so than profitability or anything of the sort. It seems to be like an ongoing battle but one that is unlikely to see Williams mentioned.

His passing would cause further controversy, especially when it came to real estate that he attempted to spread over to his children. The process was not an easy one and turned into a court battle, something the late actor likely would have never wanted.

Everything To His Family Caused Trouble

The plan was to give most of his assets over to his three children – however, the process turned out to be a lot more difficult than it should have. Legal disputes arose when Susan Schneider, Robin’s ex took issue with the vocabulary involved in what he was leaving behind;

“The trust gave the rest of the contents of the Tiburon house to Susan, specifically excluding the items gifted to his children under the trust. However, since the meaning of certain terms under the trust, such as “memorabilia,” “collectibles,” and “knick-knacks,” were not clearly defined, Susan filed a claim in Court to get clarifications as to the unclear terms and presented several arguments. The dispute ended up with a settlement, but not after some messy publicity. Without a doubt, a result that Robin Williams was trying to avoid by doing his estate planning.”

According to Trust Counsel, it turned into a lengthy court battle, as giving over his memorabilia and clothing over to his children wasn’t as easy as anticipated.

Clearly, his net worth won’t be surging in comparison to others that passed and continue to profit. For Robin, his priorities were elsewhere, like to his children and charities, along with protecting his name and image for years to come.
