Barstool leaves Freddie Mercury off list of ‘Top 10 Male Singers of All Time’

You have to give it to Barstool Sports—they know just how to get the people talking.

Their latest list has certainly done just that, a list that ranks the “Top 10 Male Singers of All Time” and somehow managed to leave singers like Freddie Mercury off of it.

Now, Barstool has become notorious for these lists, which are clearly meant to inspire ire in some audiences that take them, shall we say, way too seriously.

But in the same way a horror movie can still terrify you despite knowing its fake, it’s hard not to have some feelings oneself looking at this thing: The list puts Elvis Presley right at the top which, okay, whatever. It then lists Michael Jackson at number two (okay, again, not too bad) and then drops straight downhill by putting one-time, early 2000s teen pop sensation, Jesse McCartney, at number three above Frank Sinatra.

Above. Frank. Sinatra.

Barstool must realize that that alone is basically grounds for treason, but the brazen rascals kept going.

After Old Blue Eyes (Below. Jesse. McCartney), Barstool proceeded to place Otis Redding at number five; Adam Lambert at number six; Ryan Cabrera at number seven; Stevie Wonder at number eight; Chase Hudson at number nine; and Bob Dylan at number 10.

Needed to Google a few of those names? Same. And on top of that, when you get to the bottom of the list, you realize something—that a ton of other extremely-marvelously-talented male singers that blazed trails in the music industry have straight up been left off.

One such artist that people are pelting the Barstool Twitter thread with is Freddie Mercury, whose voice was so smooth and so powerful it should’ve been used to negotiate international relations.

There’s also Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Marvin Gaye, Robert Plant…the list goes on.

Props to you, Barstool, you’ve done it again. Now excuse us while we try to get our heart rates down.
