Only Fools and Horses

BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans fuming as Only Fools and Horses snubbed in BBC 100 special

The much-loved comedy show didn't make the cut

Strictly Come Dancing fans are fuming as Only Fools and Horses failed to make the cut for the BBC 100 special. Tonight’s show, Saturday, October 22, will see the dancers taking on routines inspired by some iconic BBC programming to celebrate 100 years of the broadcasting service.

Fans have been left devastated after the much-loved comedy show was left out of the chosen themes, snubbed by the likes of Casualty, Blue Peter, The Apprentice, and Line of Duty. However many other shows didn’t make it into the Strictly special, such as Peaky Blinders, The Repair Shop, and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

Strictly viewers were left less than impressed that the Only Fools and Horses theme music was left out, with many taking to Twitter to voice their disappointment. One person wrote: “Would have loved to have seen a cheeky Charleston to Only Fools, missed opportunity”, while another added: “You should defo have used the Only Fools and Horses theme music…it’s an absolute classic.”

Another viewer wrote: “A jive to Only Fools and Horses would have been awesome!”, while another said: “Still can’t believe Only Fools isn’t getting any recognition during the week of celebration, not even a repeat on BBC 4.”

However, some viewers pointed out that the Only Fools and Horses theme song was used on last year’s Christmas special, and that’s perhaps why it didn’t make the cut. One person wrote: “Didn’t Jay Blades dance to Only Fools and Horses?”, referring to the presenter’s jive to the theme song which featured on the special.

This week, Helen Skelton and her partner Gorka Marquez will be dancing a Charleston to the theme of Blue Peter, Ellie Simmonds and Nikita Kuzmin will be taking on a Paso Doble with a theme from The Apprentice and Hamza Yassin will be dancing a QuickStep with partner Jowita Przystal to the theme of BBC Nature programming.
