Only Fools and Horses fans reckon Tyson Fury ‘inspired by Rodney’ over fight-night costume

Only Fools and Horses fans are in stitches after spotting a strange similarity between Peckham’s finest, Rodney Trotter, and heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Boxing super fans stayed up late last night to watch Fury defeat rival Deontay Wilder in a stunning showdown in Las Vegas.

But what could possibly be similar between the pair?

Before entering the ring ahead of the showdown last night, Fury, known for his wild costume choices, came dressed as a gladiator.

Viewers of the long-running TV sitcom are saying that Tyson Fury dressed as a gladiator looked liked Rodney Trotter in the If They Could See Us Now episode – when he dresses as a gladiator up to impress Cassandra.

Fans are saying that Fury looks like Rodney Trotter in the If They Could See Us Now episode, which aired on Christmas Day 2001

Posting a picture of the two men side by side, one fan said: “English fans who watch only fools and horses will understand this tweet. Who wore it better.. Tyson Fury or Rodney Trotter #FuryWilder3.”

Another had a similar idea, and praised Fury for his victory, adding: “Can’t help but picture this scene from Only Fools and Horses. Tyson you’re the king, well deserved!”

In the episode, which was first screened on Christmas Day 2001, the Trotters lose their fortune and Del Boy goes on a game show to try to regain it.

The gladiator costume is of interest because it’s from what some say is the funniest scene of the episode – when Rodney and Cassandra dress up in costumes to try and spice up their love life.
