New for 2023, KelTec has scaled-down the KSG to instead chamber and fire .410-bore shells, resulting in a pump-action scattergun with very little recoil that measures only 26″ long and weighs just 5 lbs., 8 ozs., empty, yet thanks to its tandem tubular magazines has a capacity of up to 14+1 with 2½” shells.
While some may scoff at the notion of a .410-bore shotgun being adequate for home defense, .410 ammunition intended for defensive use has improved exponentially in recent years, with examples such as Federal Premium’s Personal Defense 410 Handgun, Hornady’s 410 Triple Defense and Winchester’s PDX1 410 Defender loads transforming the sub-gauge into a credible man-stopper.
