LOOK at Gina Lollobrigida at 90: Did she just completely DISS Sophia Loren?

Reality TV these days may be filled with bitching and back-stabbing, but celebrity cat fights are nothing new.

The legendary star is celebrating turning 90 this week on July 4 and a special party was thrown in her honour in her native Italy. As well as unveiling a sculpture in Rome and cutting a suitably spectacular cake, the actress took the opportunity to make a sly dig about her rival, Sophie Loren.

Talking of the 50-year feud she said: “I was not looking for any rivalry against anyone: I was the No 1.”

In a new interview she also made a cutting comment about Loren’s road to success.

Lollobrigida told Italian national newspaper Corriere della Sera: “I succeeded only thanks to myself, without any producer supporting me. I did everything alone.”

This is being seen as a direct dig against Loren whose career was famously tied to her film producer husband and manager, Carlo Ponti.

In her heyday, Lollobrigida was called ‘The most beautiful woman in the world’ and even made a movie by the same name.

The legendary icon, who famously turned down Howard Hughes, is set to receive a long-overdue star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year.

Throughout the 1950s and 1960s Lollobrigida starred in numerous Italian and US movies, always flaunting her ѕехսаւıty and curves.

Scenes from movies like Fast and Տехy, Solomon and Sheba or Trapeze also demonstrated her fearless nature.

Lollobrigida is famous for often referring to herself in the third person but displayed good humour and some humility in her latest interview.

Speaking of her milestone birthday, Lollobrigida said she regarded 90 as: “30 plus 30 plus 30.

“Getting older for a woman is a handicap, but the tough experiences I have had have given me the courage to face the difficulties.”
