Robin Williams’ kids Zelda Williams and Zak Williams attend mental health fundraiser in which their late father is honored as award namesake
Robin Williams’ kids Zelda Williams and Zak Williams were among the notable names in attendance Thursday at Revels & Revelations, a fundraiser for teen mental health for the nonprofit Bring Change to Mind, at the City Winery in New York City.
At the event, Zelda, 32, donned a black dress with sheer shoulder area and a grid with floral designs set in each square.
The dress had a black tulle bottom and Zelda accessorized with black pantyhose and chunky black heels.
The daughter of the beloved Mrs. Doubtfire actor wore her black locks styled to the side at the luxe event in the Big Apple.
Zak Williams, 38, wore a blush red suit with a magenta tie to the fundraiser.
Zelda made headlines this past October in addressing a viral clip of an impersonator of her father, who took his own life at 63 in August 2014 amid a battle with Lewy body disease.
Comedian Jamie Costa posted a clip titled ROBIN Test Footage Scene, in which he did an impression of Williams filming Mork & Mindy in 1982, when he learned that his friend John Belushi had ԁıеԁ of a fatal drug overdose.
Zelda kindly asked her followers to cease sending to her the clip, saying, ‘Guys, I’m only saying this because I don’t think it’ll stop until I acknowledge it … please, stop sending me the “test footage.”
‘I’ve seen it. Jamie is SUPER talented, this isn’t against him, but y’all spamming me an impression of my late Dad on one of his saddest days is weird.’
Last year, Zelda opened up about why she was not always on social media amid a flood of messages about her late father.
‘As always, I will not be here,’ she said. ‘It’s hard for me on regular, good days to remain the person expected to graciously accept the world’s need to share their memories of him and express their condolences for his loss.’
She continued: ‘As I’ve said in the past, while I am constantly touched by all of your boundless continued love for him, some days it can feel a bit like being seen as a roadside memorial – a place, not a person – where people drive past and leave their sentiments to then go about their days comforted their love for him was witnessed.’
Zelda said that at times she felt ’emotionally buried under a pile of other’s memories instead of my own,’ adding, ‘After all, even roses by the truckload weigh a ton.’
Last summer, Zak penned a memorial for his late father on social media on the seventh anniversary of his ԁеаtһ.
‘Dad, seven years ago today you passed on,’ Zak said. ‘The joy and inspiration you brought to the world carries on in your legacy and in your family, friends, and fans you so loved. You lived to bring laughter and to help others. I will be celebrating your memory today. Love you forever.’
Dan Levy and father Eugene Levy were set to receive the fifth annual Robin Williams Legacy of Laughter Award at the event, hosted by Robin Roberts.
Also seen at the event included Glenn Close, Lena Hall, Chase Stokes, Tunde Oyeneyin, Kendall Toole and Diane Warren.
Bring Change to Mind’s mission statement is ‘to end the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness.’
