Audrey Hepburn TV series is coming from The Good Wife writer and The Young Pope producers

The life of Hollywood icon Audrey Hepburn will be heading to the small screen with a new TV series being developed about her life.

The Good Wife writer-producer Jacqueline Hoyt has come aboard to write the drama series, according to a new report from Variety.  

The show will be a joint production between the Italian production company Wildside and Fremantle, which is coming off hits like The Young Pope.

The series will be based on a treatment written by Hepburn’s son, Luca Dotti, and Italian journalist and writer Luigi Spinola.

Hepburn was married to Dotti’s father, Italian psychiatrist Andrea Dotti, who she was married to from 1969 to 1982.

The actress was one of the most beloved and recognized faces of the 20th Century, starring in iconic films such as Sabrina, Roman Holiday, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and My Fair Lady.

She won an Oscar for her performance in Roman Holiday, and was nominated for four more, while also receiving the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 1993, just after she passed away at 63 years of age after battling cancer.

The series will be the first in-depth look at her life in a high-end TV series which will certainly have global appeal. 

Both Dotti and Spinola previously wrote the 2015 bestseller Audrey at Home, described as, ‘a part-biography, part-cookbook combining anecdotes, excerpts from Hepburn’s correspondence, her recipes and unpublished family photographs.’

A statement from Wildside added, ‘Luca and Luigi explored the singularity of Audrey’s real self,’ adding, ‘the muse, the mother and the later humanitarian all closely relate to a girl that never stopped to be amazed by the gift of life.’

The writers delved even deeper into their research for the series, particularly with the actress’ ‘formative years’ which the show will explore.  

The show will be executive produced by Wildside CEO Mario Gianani and Lorenzo Gangarossa with Ludovica Damiani, who originated and shepherded the project

Luca Dotti and Luigi Spinola will also serve as executive producers along with their writing duties.

‘For Audrey our goal is once again to produce a show that is born locally to deliver globally,’ Fremantle COO Andrea Scrosati said in a statement.

‘The creative team assembled by Wildside and the IP are perfectly positioned to make this happen,’ he added.
