Robin Williams

Fans Think This Was Robin Williams’ Best Film

There’s no denying that Robin Williams was a talented and diverse actor. His range was impressive; the man could do stand-up as easily as he could give a heartfelt performance.

Still, Robin only earned one Oscar during his illustrious career (although he did have one regret about it). Fans aren’t happy about that particular snub, but it doesn’t negate the many amazing films Williams was part of.

From ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ to ‘Jumanji’ to ‘Good Will Hunting’ and even ‘Friends,’ Robin’s many onscreen performances still send fans reeling. Fortunately for them, his acting and infectious sense of humor have been memorialized in film.

Robin’s career also wasn’t without noteworthy moments when it came to his real-life appearances. His Oscars speech, for example, for ‘Good Will Hunting’ brought laughs while remaining heartfelt.

Robin also enjoyed a historical interview with Howard Stern, countless nominations for his movie roles, and other credits in the industry, including as a producer, writer, and director. In fact, he’s received over 100 credits in the TV and film industry, as IMDb highlights.

With so many credits to his name, it’s surprising that Robin Williams didn’t win every award on the planet. Instead, he won hearts by being humble, self-deprecating, and always hilarious.

Which leads many fans to argue over which film was his best of all time.

Fans are, understandably, divided on the subject. On Quora, one fan posed the question of which movie was the best in Williams’ career. A handful suggested ‘Mrs. Doubtfire,’ for the slapstick comedy (especially the scene where Robin’s character is swapping between Mrs. Doubtfire clothes and street attire).

Another fan said ‘Jumanji’ was Robin’s best performance, because the film featured meaningful content while offering up an entertaining cinematic style. Plus, Robin didn’t even enter his first scene until 30 minutes into the film, which fans highlight as a power move that made his role even better.

Ultimately, however, one film received the most Quora votes, with a thousand fans agreeing with “cinephile” Robert Frost that ‘Dеаԁ Poets Society’ was Robin’s all-time best film.

Multiple fans admitted that the film made them cry, and Frost noted that when he finally arrived at university, he was devastated to find that there weren’t any professors quite like John Keating.

More than 30 years later, ‘Dеаԁ Poets Society’ still reverberates in the entertainment sphere. In its heyday, the movie also garnered a handful of accolades, including Academy Award nominations for both Williams’ performance and the director’s.

Some critics disagreed, however, with renowned critic Rogert Ebert giving the film only two stars out of four. That didn’t matter to fans, though, who still treasure Robin’s performance as John Keating and plan to rewatch the movie until the end of time (and cry while doing so).
