Sophia Loren: Legendary actress and Life Ahead star talks wedding regret ‘Still inside me’
Legendary actress Sophia Loren has spoken about her wedding day regret in a new interview. The 86-year-old actress, who stars in The Life Ahead – a Netflix film by her son, has said she wishes she wore a white dress on her big day.
The Hollywood movie star, who met her husband Carlo Ponti Sr. when she was 16, chose not to wear a traditional wedding gown when they tied the knot.
The couple, who remained married until Carlo’s death in 2007, were in fact married twice – once in 1957 and again 1965.
When talking to Radio Times, Sophia said she tried to live life with no regrets, but there was one thing that bothers her.
“In life, you always go through so many experiences, but I have always tried to live with no regrets,” she told the publication.
She went on to add: “I think I’ve reached a peaceful life. I have everything I ever wanted, which is a wonderful family with beautiful children and beautiful grandchildren.
“The only thing I regret a little is that I never got married in a white dress.
“That was the dream of my life, which is still inside me,” the Oscar-winning actress added.
The mum-of-two, who shares sons Carlo Ponti Jr., 51, and Edoardo Ponti, 47, with her late husband, did manage to wear some stunning wedding dresses throughout her movie career.
In the 1958 film Houseboat, the actress wore an incredible long-sleeve lace gown for her on-screen wedding.
She also starred in Marriage Italian Style in 1964.
Sophia’s newest film The Life Ahead, directed by her youngest son Edoardo, was released on November 13.
She plays Madame Rosa in the movie based on Romain Gary’s novel, The Life Before Us.
